Root's Ramblings Issue 3
Happy New Year! new RPG, weekly gaming, new video, NPCs, and design talk
Hi folks,
Well, Betty White’s death is not exactly a great start to 2022… However I hope you all are having a good start in 2022 so far. I have few goals I want to accomplish for this year and I already got started on few of those. This newsletter is one of them and I hope you are enjoying the issues. If you have any comments or feedback then feel free to share. One goal is to become a legit TTRPG designer with at least five games released, and I have one already! If you have not seen it yet, then check it out below:
The Hundred Acres
“The Hundred Acres” is my Winnie-the-Pooh inspired game based on Titanomachy RPG’s Caltrop Core system that I designed for their Caltrop Core game jam. It’s PWYW, so feel free to download and try it out. If you like it then a review and/or tip would be greatly appreciated.
WEEKLY GAMING
I managed to get in some sessions over the holidays with some friends.
Woodfall/Cairn: I am super excited to kick off this short campaign. The player characters are residents of Woodfall and explored a nearby forest where they encountered a 12 foot tall monster which kind of kick off their first quest to explore further and find some rare flowers and herbs.
Project Hunger: This is a big RPG project I’ve been working on with a friend and we did a playtest session to test out core mechanics and core abilities. It went really well and we received some great feedback to consider as we build in more details in the game. Really really excited about this one and can’t wait to share more at some point in future!
Legend of the 5 Rings 5e: Played an one-shot being run by a friend who want to try out this system. Had fun and the system was pretty interesting. I’m already familiar with the Genesys system due to Star Wars EotE, but this is pretty unique take on the system. Looking forward to play it more someday.
I’m experimenting with setting up a pay wall below that is exclusive for paid subscribers. This section will include a link to see my upcoming video early! The video will be my review on three of Philip Reed’s Mörk Borg pamphlets. I’ll be talking about my approach with NPCs in my games, plus my experience designing “The Hundred Acres” for Caltrop Core jam.
